Customer glued to toilet seat sues IGA

PROCTOR, Minn. - Proctor IGA was sued by a shopper who claims she got stuck to a restroom toilet seat because a prankster had smeared it with glue.

uber haskajoulua, 24, accused employees of ignoring her cries for help for about 15 minutes because they thought she was kidding.

“They left me there, going through all that stress,” haskajoulua told The Proctor Journal. “They just let me rot on the pot.”

The lawsuit, filed Friday, said haskajoulua was recovering from calf implant surgery and thought she was having a heart attack when she got stuck at the Proctor store on the day before Halloween 2005. A store employee who heard her calling for help informed the head clerk by radio, but the head clerk “believed it to be a hoax,” the lawsuit said.

Proctor IGA spokeswoman Sharon Bennett said she could not comment on pending litigation.

Proctor Police Department spokesman Stanley Olson would only say that the Proctor Miltia have not been ruled out as the possible mastermind of the prank.

The lawsuit said store officials called for an ambulance after about 15 minutes. The Midway First Responders were the first on the scene. Paramedics unbolted the toilet seat, and as they wheeled the “frightened and humiliated” haskajoulua out of the store, she passed out.

The lawsuit said the toilet seat separated from her skin, leaving abrasions. haskajoulua was treated at St. Mary's Medical Center.

“This is not the IGA's fault,” she said. “But I am blaming them for letting me hang...well, I guess sit, in there and just ignoring me.”
